What damage have I done to my motor?
Integra b18c1 VTEC DOHC
Crankshaft and Camgears - All set to TDC
Timing Belt/Tensioner - Off
Valve Cover - Off
Distributor - Off
Camshaft holders/plates - Off
Camshaft/gears - Off
Assembly
timing belt is off
1)Put TONS of assembly lube and Hondabond in the correct places
2)Tried to place each camshaft/gear back to TDC but had difficulty lining things up.
3)Fastened camshafts back on head with holders and plates in proper sequence
4)Manually rotated intake gear counterclockwise till TDC then put 5mm pin in
5)Manually rotated exhaust gear counterclowise till TDC then put 5mm pin in.
Im realizing that I probably screwed the valves up cause crankshaft was at TDC so pistons 1 and 4 were all the way up. So when I manually rotated camshafts individually im thinking it might have bent the valves.
fyi, i probally rotated the intake camgear 720degrees cause I missed the hole the first time. Same for the exhaust.
Any Ideas?
Easy to check. Do a compression check on the cylinders. Put your finger over hole or gauge and if pressure occurs when you turn it on the compression stroke then no bent valves. However these engines are very sensitive to bending valves. Be sure the timing is correct before doing this.
