How can I remove carbon from the oil pan of a 2001 mitsubishi montero sport?
I changed the valve cover on the car and carbon got into the oil pan and filter. Now it is not getting enough pressure to pick up the oil. Is there anything I can use to put in the oil pan without removing it
There is nothing you can put in your oil to dissolve the hard carbon"quick style". If you find a chemical that strong and use it, it would also eat up all your rubber seals causing massive oil leaks (front seal, rear main seal etc).
If your oil is not being picked up by the oil pump..chances are your oil pick up screen in your crankcase is clogged. Remove the oil pan, and clean off the bits and pieces of the carbon. Pour some oil into the valve cover to flush out remaining debris while oil pan is off. Reinstall with a new oil pan gasket, oil and filter. Start engine and notice your oil light or oil pressor gauge. If pressure is normal after you do this, drive for 500 miles and redo an oil change with filter as "an insurance policy".
