How to remove the piston from the rod?
Piston is scarred up......go cart engine, 9.2 hp......engine is tore down to the block, with crank assy still all together, head is off, cylinder housing off, how to remove piston?
i removed the ring on each side of the pin, did try bumping out the pin with a small hammer and screwdriver, it didnt seem to move, didnt wanna use too much force, may possibly mess up crank bearings.................will it drive out?
or will i have to tear down the crank and everything to remove the rod with piston complete, then press the pin out?..gonna install a new piston and pin with rings
Usually the pin will slide out, but it can get stuck and require pressing out (gently!) with a large G-clamp and a wooden plug. But you didn't say what kind of engine you're using, so check the overhaul manual before taking my word on it.
